nLight Platform Wall Switch Price Rationalization

Over the last year and a half, we have been making significant investments in updating nLight wall switches to ensure they provide enhanced aesthetics and modern form factors. As of July 15, 2020, the nLight platform offers a complete line of aesthetically updated wall switches, all identified by the addition of an “A” within the product family model name.

Now that we have completed the update to our wall switch offering, we want to de-emphasize the use of legacy wall switches and increase adoption of the new wall switches through price rationalization.

We are confident that the new wall switches provide better customer experience than our legacy wall switches, therefore effective November 2nd, 2020, target pricing for our aesthetically updated wall switches will decrease as follows:

    • nPODMA Family: 10% Price Reduction
    • nWSXA Family: 10% Price Reduction
    • rPODBA Family: 20% Price Reduction previously implemented in June 2020
    • rPODLA Family: 20% Price Reduction previously implemented in June 2020

On the same date, we will also be increasing target pricing for our legacy wall switches as follows:

    • nPODM Family: 10% Price Increase
    • nWSX Family: 10% Price Increase
    • nPOD GFX Family: 25% Price Increase
    • rPODB Family: 12.5% Price Increase
    • rPODL Family: 12.5% Price Increase

Pricing for the following families will remain unchanged:

    • nPOD TOUCH
    • nPOD KEY

Frequently Asked Questions:

    • What is the plan for conversion of product stock in distribution centers (DC)? We are currently working to bring in DC inventory levels of the aesthetic wall switches (i.e. nPODMA) to match our legacy wall switches (i.e. nPODM) inventory levels and will be phasing out DC stock of the nPODM switches over the next few months.
    • Will there be any lead-time changes in the various switch families? Both the legacy and aesthetic switch families have the same factory production lead times.
    • Will an Agile “auto-convert” be put in place? We are planning to put an auto-convert from legacy to aesthetically updated switch models in place on March 1st, 2021. For example, this will automatically update a legacy switch to the aesthetic equivalent. If the project requires the legacy version, it will require manually converting the order lines.
    • How long will you plan to offer the legacy aesthetic switches? Given the need to support existing projects and specifications and multi-phase projects, we expect to continue offering the legacy switch aesthetic for approximately the next 2 years. Additionally, we will also maintain small volumes for an extended duration to support warranty claims through our standard 5-year warranty period.
    • Are any changes taking place with SensorSwitch™ switch families? We recognize that nLight and SensorSwitch products are often mixed on the same job site and therefore require matching aesthetic. All SensorSwitch wall switch families are also currently available with the updated aesthetic, but execution of pricing and stocking updates is planned for early calendar year 2021. We will provide additional details on this transition in a follow-up communication.
