Ballast Disconnect Plugs (BDP) Phasing Out on LED Lensed Troffers

The Lithonia Lighting® Commercial Indoor group is beginning a phase-out of ballast disconnect plugs (BDP) on LED lensed troffers.

The BDP is not required to be installed on LED fixtures by the manufacturer per NEC code 410.73(G)  – “Disconnecting means a BDP is only required on ‘fluorescent luminaires (fixtures) that utilize double-ended lamps and contain ballast(s) that can be serviced in place or ballasted luminaires that are supplied from multiwire branch circuits and contain ballast(s) that can be serviced in place’.”

As we are working through the transition of the ballast disconnect phase-out, we will be updating our specification sheets by product family.  If the BDP can be factory installed, an option will be added to the options section of the spec sheet. For products where a factory installed option is not available, a BDP accessory will be added to the spec sheet in the accessories section to be ordered for installation in the field.
