California Title 20 PSBC Module for Field Installation

We are pleased to announce the release of Power Sentry®  PSBCEB2  and PSBCED10 modules.  These Power Sentry PSBC modules control charging algorithms enabling select existing Power Sentry emergency ballasts and LED drivers to comply with the California Energy Commission (CEC) Title 20 law.  The law pertains to emergency LED ballasts and drivers manufactured on or after January 1, 2017 and sold or offered for sale in the state of California.PSBCEB2

The new module seamlessly integrates with the Power Sentry® emergency driver and other fixture components, while maintaining the industry-preferred Power Sentry® input/out isolation technology. The isolated input/output feature ensures no single fixture component failure, combination of abnormal operating conditions of fixture components, or other unwanted feedback can damage the emergency driver/ballast.

Field Installation – Customers who are field-installing regulated emergency LED ballasts and drivers should order the combination “emergency driver with PSBC kit.”  Multiple kits are available including:

  • PS1400QD MVOLT PSBCEB2 –  consists of a PSBCEB2 charge module and a PS1400QD emergency driver
  • PS1030 PSBCED10 – consists of a PSBCED10 charge module and a PS1030 emergency driver
  • PS1050 PSBCED10 – consists of a PSBCED10 charge module and a PS1050 emergency driver

Field-installation is fast and simple since the required components are included in the kit.  In addition, the PSBC connects to the emergency driver/ballast main AC input through use of a Quick Disconnect connector.  The PSBC is UL listed and can be field or factory installed.  Its compact size enables installation in many luminaires in the equipment bay without the need for remote mounting. If needed, the PSBC can be remote mounted in any fireproof remote enclosure. We recommend ELA PSRME IC.  (Note that the PSBC charge modules can also be ordered separately to convert on-hand inventories as needed to allow compliance with CEC Title 20.   In that case, order the appropriate PSBC module by itself.)

Effective October 13, 2017, all orders for the PS1400QD MVOLT, PS1030 and PS1050 for shipment to the state of California must include a corresponding PSBC module number, or preferably the customer should instead order the appropriate combination kit listed above.

Currently, ample inventory is available for other Power Sentry® products to satisfy the requirements of the CEC Title 20 by way of date-of-manufacture. We have launched the PS1055LCP and PS1555LCP and will be launching other Power Sentry® products which are inherently CEC Title 20 compliant.   Those items are not listed in this announcement and will be launched separately in the future.

For factory installation of compliant CEC products, please consult the respective luminaire groups.

As always, Power Sentry affirms its commitment to providing solutions for all your emergency lighting needs and we thank you for your continued support.
