Website Update (June 26 – July 7)
Over the past two weeks, the website team has been working diligently on many top-priority website projects, such as continuous deployment, search and migrating the architectural websites. Below is an update on these projects and more.
Key Accomplishments
The team completed five bugs fixes, 27 content updates and the launch of the Unified Buildings Controls page.
– The Unified Building Controls page steps through the latest controls solution that brings together lighting and HVAC management into one powerful visualization interface. Click here for more information.
Continuous Deployment
As mentioned in the last update, this project will allow us to implement new code and standard updates to the website at a faster rate. We are on schedule to complete this project the week of July 17.
Migrating Architectural Brands
– Peerless – Nearing completion, scheduled to launch the week of July 24
– Mark – Design is being finalized and on track to launch the week of July 31
– Gotham – Design is complete, on track to launch the week of July 31
– Winona –Targeting week of August 14 to launch
– Healthcare Lighting – Targeting week of August 24 to launch
Product Web Page (Juno, Indy and Aculux)
We are continuing to make progress on the development of the enhanced product web page that will display compatible product information like housings to trims (and vice versa), and track systems to components and fixtures. The target launch date has been pushed to late August due to technical issues around making the relational data appear properly.
Search
Based on all the VoC, we are strongly focused on improving the overall search functionality and product search results. We are working on the following improvements to be implemented in late August/September:
– Advanced predictive search feature
– Applying a search-results order logic
– Expanding the “Products” menu in the top navigation to include additional product categories
i.e., Retrofit, Troffers, Cylinders, Step Lights, etc.
– Adding a Product Selector – This is already in the works!
– Restructuring and/or grouping the product attribute filter values
Website Response Time and IES Files
We are aware of two issues related to acuitybrands.com:
(1) On July 5 and 6, the website was timing out and/or the response time was very slow. The cause of this issue was a spike in website traffic, and the cloud environment (servers) responded appropriately and shifted the traffic load. However, when the traffic was shifted, there was a connection issue between servers. A permanent fix was applied on Monday, July 10.
(2) On July 7, it was reported that IES files were not loading for Indy and Aculux. As of July 13, the IES data was resynced to the website.
Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback thus far. Your voice and the customer’s voice are very important to ensure we are making the right enhancements to the site! So please continue to send your feedback to us, or schedule time to discuss it at your convenience. Where possible, we ask that you send specific examples so we can identify the source of the problem to determine if there’s an error or if an enhancement is needed for the website.
Thank you,
-The Acuity Brands Web Team
